Education Assistance
Discover the Joy of Helping Less Privileged Students Get a Good Education

In 1996, the Association instituted the Nigerian Friendship Association Education Assistance Program (NFAEAP), renamed in 2015 as Friendship Association Education Assistance (FAEA). FAEA was created with the following objectives:
  • To provide financial support to any intelligent but indigent under-privileged Nigerian student pursuing an approved undergraduate degree program at any Nigerian University.
  • To provide financial support to a Nursery, Elementary or Secondary School in our various districts by providing them with necessary school supplies in form of desks, chairs, blackboard, and other school materials.
  • In May 1997, we successfully completed our first presentation, which was carried on several national newspapers, radio and television networks in Nigeria. Since 1996, fifty two (52) NFAEAP awards have been successfully funded and completed.

Adopt-A-Highway
As part of the association's community involvement, the Nigerian Friendship Association in April 1997 joined the anti-litter program known as Adopt-A-Highway, administered by the Maryland Department of Transportation; State Highway Administration.

The Association adopted a highway; Baltimore National Pike, MD Route 40 West, between Rolling Road and East of Baltimore County Line. Since then, the group accepts responsibility for picking up litter on the highway four times a year.

This commitment ended in 2018.

A Note From Governor Martin O'Malley

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for participating in our State's Adopt-A-Highway Program. The work you have done plays a vital role in our efforts to preserve Maryland's beauty and protect her environment.

Throughout our great State, your hard work is evident, fighting against the trash that all too often is found along our roadways. The work that you do is helping to build a more sustainable future for Maryland, so that our children and our grandchildren can enjoy the health of the land, the water and the environment that we love.

Furthermore, as volunteers, you are a voice of advocacy to others. Please continue to encourage your coworkers, family and friends to do their part in keeping our roads free of litter and debris so that our efforts to protect Maryland's environment can be strengthened through collaboration.
On behalf of our One Maryland, I would like to comment you for your commitment to the Adopt-A-Highway Program.

Martin O' Malley, Governor
